Tenun Ikat (Woven Ikat Cloth)

As I was searching for my batiks I came across a young American weaver who married a Javanese weaver. Although central Java is not a place to look for a good ikat weaving, it does have a history for this method of weaving. What I found interesting in their design was that they used the batik motif to adorn their work. The brown tones in this piece makes this weaving come close to being batik-like. Very well done. I purchased quite a few from them at he time, but I only have two left. I have since lost contact with this interesting couple. What a shame...
