Actually ‘kawung’ or ‘kolang kaling’ is a name of a Palm fruit that Indonesian people love to eat and is mixed in a refreshing drink called "es teller'.

Batik with Kawung pattern when worn by the king and the family symbolizes justice and power.

Batik Kawung pattern also can symbolize the hope that we will always remember our origin.

In certain parts of Java, this pattern is also associated with fertility and pro-creation.
